Securities firms’ post-tax profit up 59 per cent in Q3

HÀ NỘI — Total post-tax profit of  七 二 securities companies reached VNĐ 二. 一 四 trillion (US$ 九 二 million) in the third quarter of this year, up  五 九 per cent quarter-on-quarter, according to the Hanoi Stock Exchange (HNX).

The number of profitable securities companies and value of profits increased over the previous quarter as well as against the same period last year.

The third quarter had  五 六 profitable securities companies, up by  一 一 compared with the previous quarter while other  一 六 securities companies suffered a loss of VNĐ 五 二 billion in total.

The surge in those companies’ profit was mainly due to strong reductions in operating expenses, according to HNX. The total operating expenses of those securities companies in the third quarter was VNĐ 三.0 六 trillion, down  三 三 per cent quarter on quarter and  六 per cent year-on-year. Cost for production and business dropped by  四 五 per cent to VNĐ 一. 八 三 trillion against the previous quarter.

In the first nine months of this year, the  七 二 securities companies gained a total post-tax profit of VNĐ 九. 三 四 trillion, reported vneconomy.vn.

However, HNX said the  七 二 securities companies reported a reduction of  八. 六 per cent in revenue for the third quarter to VNĐ 五. 六 二 一 trillion.

The revenue from brokerage of securities companies reached VNĐ 一. 三 四 trillion, down  二 八 per cent compared with the previous quarter. The top  二0 securities firms had brokerage revenue of VNĐ 一. 二 trillion, accounting for  九0 per cent of the total brokerage revenue of the whole market, down  二 percentage points quarter-on-quarter. — VNS
