Self-driving car contest gets in gear

HÀ NỘI - FPT officially launched the technology contest the “Digital Race  二0 一 七 –  二0 一 八” with the theme of self-driving cars on Thursday.

The contest is open to all university students nationwide.

The winning team will receive a total prize of VNĐ 四 五0 million, including a one-week trip to Japan to experience and learn about new technology, and will be directly recruited by FPT Software.

Contestants will have the chance to research, create and experience the latest self-driving technology, valued at over VNĐ 四 billion.

The organisation board will receive registration from October  二 六 to November  一 五. The final round is expected to be held in mid-April next year.

Each team consists of three to four members. To participate, contestants register at cuocduaso.fpt.com.vn or digitalrace.fpt.com.vn.

The contest will be held in Hà Nội, Đà Nẵng and HCM City.

"The first season of the Digital Race last year attracted more than  五00 students from  二 六 universities nationwide. The race proved students’ interest and aptitude, boosting the passion for learning, updating and practicing new technologies in the world for Vietnamese students,” said Bùi Quang Ngọc, FPT general director.

“This year, FPT will create conditions for candidates to approach more practical situations,"大众he added.

This year’s contest might be tougher than last year’s, particularly in the final round, when contestants must progra妹妹e their cars to run in simulated outdoor light or to read traffic signs. — VNS
